Jeff Willmott, Vice President, National Business Development
What is your role at Willmott?
My many hats at Willmott include overseeing our Contract Consulting Services and being an individual contributor making both contract and direct hire placements.
How long have you been in staffing?
I’m approaching 11 years in staffing. I finally joined Willmott in November 2007 which was technically the beginning of our last major recession.
What do you like most about being in the HR space?
Our clients often become our candidates and our candidates often become our clients.
What do you find to be the most challenging factors operating in today’s marketplace?
In all markets, the existence of unfounded biases. Unfortunately, none of us are above them.
In this booming market, competing offers.
What do you look for when you are hiring and adding to your internal team at Willmott?
The likelihood of longevity at Willmott which includes being able to withstand the ups and downs of placement.
Best advice for your candidates? How about your clients?
To candidates when interviewing, be yourself and describe specific work experiences that you have reason to believe will resonate. To clients, be humble. Realize there are few certainties when attempting to predict future human behavior.
Any additional comments?
Wow, these open ended questions could keep me on this soap box for way too long, but I won’t. Regarding the current market, if you have coveted experience, it’s a great time to maximize your earning power. Willmott is different because of our conscience that was created by our founder and my awesome dad, Clark Willmott. It may sound cheesy or even hollow, but our conscience is one of the few certainties that I have experienced in this business.
