A Conversation with Jane Adreani, Willmott & Associates, Inc.

During these challenging times, it is imperative that we continue to practice what is most important and that is building and maintaining solid relationships. We spoke with Janie, the Business Development Guru on the Willmott team and she gave us her ever-helpful perspective on the current landscape.

How has your approach to business development changed during the pandemic?

“I now lead with a great sense of empathy and compassion as I don’t know what folks are up against with COVID and family situations. In addition, HR Leaders are juggling more with remote arrangements and COVID protocol. In the end, I do believe that the valuable changes will create a strong client partnership for Willmott.”

What do you miss about doing business pre-COVID?

“I miss the human interaction like most HR people leaders. It’s critical when trying to build credibility and trust…and expression can speak volumes…eye contact is also critical…I use video calls as often as I can but it is not always in everyone’s comfort zone…In addition, I miss visiting client organizations/sites, meeting their teams and getting a feel for what makes their culture unique.”

We have all had to change the way we are doing business. In your opinion, what good has come out of these changes?

“Time. Taking additional time as the remote component has prolonged decisions and the hiring process. Developing strong patience and utilizing video calls are key to building a strong bond with all of our partners. I believe that the good that will come out of this is that all folks will recognize that everyone has to juggle in their daily lives…these times are teaching us all to lead with a human element and compassion…Clients and candidates are recognizing and valuing the work life balance for all work cultures…our goal should be running businesses with flexibility and equality for all.”

What do you hope to see/experience in the HR placement sector this year?

“The market is strengthening- the numbers reflect that. My hope is that all candidates and clients are valued by their HR leadership teams. I hope that Willmott and Associates will continue to be recognized as a leading HR placement consulting firm in the Greater Boston market and across the U.S.”
